The Margaret Schaefer Scholarship

The “Margaret Schaefer Scholarship” was created by action of the Christ Lutheran Church Voters Assembly in February of 1993. The scholarship was named in honor of Margaret Schaefer’s 25th year in her teaching ministry and her long standing contributions to Christ Lutheran Church.

Purpose: The Margaret Schaefer Scholarship was created to assist Christ Lutheran Church families who show a need
and request additional support, beyond the annual budgeted Mission subsidy, in sending their child/children to a
Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) summer camp.

Eligibility:

1.       Student applicants shall be children of or blood relatives of active members of Christ Lutheran Church.

2.       Student applicants shall be baptized members of Christ Lutheran Church and shall be active in worship attendance (minimum 50% attendance in Sunday School and Church). They shall also be active in offered youth activities.

3.       Student applicants who are in Kindergarten through 12th grade will be considered as recipients of this scholarship.

Application Procedure:

1.       Applications shall be obtained from the Christ Lutheran Church office or the Christ Lutheran Church website.

2.       Scholarship applications shall be submitted to the office at Christ Lutheran Church no later than the designated date.

Scholarship Grant Procedure:

1.       Student applications to be considered shall be received by May 15th for LCMS summer camps that are held that
same year.

2.       The Schaefer Scholarship is administered by a Grant Committee consisting of: The pastor and DCE of Christ Lutheran Church and the Christ Lutheran Church Council as represented by the Council President or his appointed designee.

3.       Utilizing the information provided by the student about their summer camp of choice, the Grant Committee shall consider all applications and approve grant amounts for individual students where a need is determined.

4.       The Christ Lutheran Church Treasurer is authorized to disperse the committee approved scholarship funds in a manner compatible with established payment procedures for each summer camp as well as Christ Lutheran Church.

5.       The Christ Lutheran Church Treasurer will disperse funds to the summer camp for application to the student’s account, or, upon proof of payment to the camp, funds will be dispersed directly to the parents/guardians of the student.

6.       All privacy requests from the applicant families shall be honored.
